Experience Tikkun Leil Shavuot In-Person: Join the JCC for an Overnight Event on May 25-26!

Join the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan for a special event called Tikkun Leil Shavuot, celebrating the Jewish holiday of Shavuot. Since 2004, the JCC has opened its doors to thousands of people for a free night of study, music, conversation, and celebration.

The event will take place in person from 10 pm on Thursday, May 25, to 5 am on Friday, May 26. You can drop in for one session or stay the whole night. There are over 70 sessions to choose from, including engaging conversations with notable figures like Tovah Feldshuh, Taffy Brodesser-Akner, Joshua Malina, and Aaron Neil. You can also enjoy culinary experiences with the Jewish Food Society, watch a sneak peek screening of the Israeli TV show Chanshi, participate in movement classes like Israeli dance and silent disco, and enjoy music and comedy events with Music Talks and The Bible Players. There will even be a whiskey tasting with Jews and Booze.

The programs cover a wide range of topics appealing to diverse audiences, including discussions on antisemitism, the Israeli protest movement, Zionism, and American Jewish identity.

A special track sponsored by the World Zionist Organization called “WZO’s Jewish Peoplehood Hub, Dem-o-krat-ya: Voices, Vision, and Values” will offer panels, study sessions, and performances throughout the night. Additionally, there will be a pop-up exhibition featuring contemporary artwork on Shavuot themes created by Jerusalem artists, and a guided tour at Tikkun by HaMiffal/The Factory Art Platform.

The Tikkun will kick off on the JCC rooftop at 9 pm with an opening ritual led by Rabbi Deborah Sacks Mintz. This moment of communal singing is open to all.

Shavuot is a holiday that commemorates the revelation of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Many Jews observe this holiday by staying up all night to study Torah. Tikkun Leil Shavuot at the JCC is a tribute to Paul Feig, who passed away in a car accident in 1998. Paul was the brother of Jeff Feig, a longtime JCC board member and current board chair.

The JCC welcomes you to join the UWS Shavuot celebration, whether you can stay for an hour, two, or the entire night. Come experience the joy of the holiday and enjoy some delicious cheesecake. No registration is necessary.
